Cobb and Plunkett Named Conference Players of the Week

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Morgan Cobb (Cataula, Ga.) and Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) of the No. 19 Georgia College & State University soccer team (12-1-4, 5-1-2 PBC) were chosen as Peach Belt Conference (PBC) players of the week for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 2.

This is the third PBC Defensive Player of the week honor for Cobb this season. She is a defensive leader on a squad that posted two more shutouts this week, including one of No. 4 Columbus State University Saturday. Against North Georgia College & State University, the Bobcat defense held the Lady Saints to seven shots on goal and then limited Columbus State to eight. The Bobcats have 12 shutouts on the season including three in a row and five in their last six games. Georgia College leads the PBC with only six goals allowed this season and a team GAA of 0.34.

Plunkett earns her fifth conference Goalkeeper of the Week award of the season after making 15 saves in two games as Georgia College went 2-0 on the week. She began with seven saves in a 2-0 shutout win over North Georgia and then turned in a stellar game against Columbus State, making eight saves over 110 minutes as the two teams fought to a 0-0 tie. The two shutouts give her a school-record eight on the season as she continues to lead the PBC with a 0.31 GAA, which is also sixth-best in the nation.

The Bobcats have now taken 10 PBC weekly honors this season. They are back in action tonight in the first round of the conference tournament as they host Lander University at 7 p.m.
