KANSAS CITY, Kan. - After a 1-0-1 performance by the Georgia College & State University soccer team (8-5-4) this past week, the Bobcats have clawed their way back into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Southeast Regional Rankings released yesterday (Oct. 27) and are in the 10th slot.
Georgia College defeated UNC Pembroke 1-0 at home Oct. 21. The Bobcat defense held the Peach Belt Conference's (PBC) third-leading scorer, Anna Svensson, to only three shots with no goals. Three days later the Bobcats tied national No. 3 Columbus State University at home 0-0. Again, the GCSU defense came through and held the PBC's fourth-leading scorer, Gina Goforth, to no goals on six shots.
In addition to the ‘Cats, four other PBC teams appeared on the regional list with the Columbus State Cougars at the top. Armstrong Atlantic State University is fifth followed by North Georgia at sixth and Lander University taking ninth.
Georgia College returns to Bobcat Field today (Oct. 28) to face USC Aiken at 7 p.m.
