Bobcat Soccer Seniors Snag PBC All-Tournament Team Spots

MARTINEZ, Ga. - Seniors Daria Owen (Snellville, Ga.) and Jamie Nevin (Grovetown, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University soccer team (10-6-5) were named to the 2009 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) All-Tournament Team as announced recently by the conference office.
Georgia College lost during the semifinal round, but two Bobcats earned spots on the All-Tournament squad. Nevin was selected for her outstanding offensive efforts, scoring two goals in the tourney. She scored the first goal in the quarterfinal contest against North Georgia, where the Bobcats won 2-1. The senior netted her second goal during the semifinals, the only Bobcat goal in that game.
Owen was chosen for her offensive passing efforts as most notably displayed in the quarterfinal victory. Less than 10 minutes into the second period against North Georgia, Owen's corner kick found the foot of sophomore Megan McAlpin (Newnan, Ga.), who scored the game winning goal. Owen's perfectly placed passes created many opportunities for the Bobcats throughout the tournament as well as the 2009 season.
Despite a difficult schedule, this was the third-straight double-digit win season for the Bobcats. Georgia College continues to be one of the top teams in the Peach Belt, suffering just one loss in PBC play, and landing six players to the All-PBC teams this season, more than any other school.
