PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Georgia College soccer team (7-5-1, 4-2-1 PBC) continued its struggles away from home as they fell 2-0 at UNC Pembroke (12-1-2, 6-1-1 PBC) Wednesday.
Senior Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) tallied three saves in the game bringing her season total to 56 saves.
The game was knotted 0-0 at the half. In the second frame, UNC Pembroke's Anna Svensson scored two goals to lead the Braves past the Bobcats.
The Peach Belt Conference's (PBC) leading scorer, Svensson started the scoring with a goal off a double assist from Rebecca Womack and Anna Zetterlund at 12:02 into the second half. Just over 16 minutes later, Svensson scored her second goal of the game and her 16th on the season on an assist from Sheena Mature.
GC outshot the Braves 14-9 and had a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks, controlling two aspects of play but unable to break the shutout.
The 'Cats managed to get seven shots on goal as junior Karen Bonilla (Manassas, Va.) and senior Kayla Emerson (Fayetteville, Ga.) each had a team-high two. UNC Pembroke goalkeeper Britney Bennett had seven saves in the game
