Bobcat Soccer Falls 1-0 to Tusculum

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The final day of the Bobcat Shootout wasn't any kinder to the Georgia College soccer team (1-3) as despite a 26-14 advantage in shots, the Bobcats lost to Tusculum College (3-2) 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

Both teams had solid chances in the first half, with GC dominating the shots category 17-4 over the first 45 minutes. After reaching halftime tied 0-0, it still took another 27:52 into the second half for the Pioneers to get on the board.

Michelle Meade took a ball that had worked its way out of the box to the second line, and cracked a 35-yard shot that caught the left side of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The score would hold up, as during the course of the game GC fired 26 shots with 13 on goal. Freshman forward Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.) had particularly hard luck, finding the post on her first shot of the second half and watching a potential game-tying shot with 6:35 left in the game catch the crossbar.

Pioneer netminder Marissa Williams stopped all 12 shots she saw for the shutout. Freshman Annie Stephens (Fayetteville, Ga.) had six saves in the loss.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. traveling to the University of Tampa to battle Barry University (1-3). The Buccaneers most recently lost 3-0 at Columbus State University Sept. 9.
