AMERICUS, Ga. – On the strength of their second-straight shutout victory, the Georgia College soccer team (3-5, 2-0 PBC) improved to 2-0 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play Saturday with a 2-0 win at Georgia Southwestern State University (3-5, 0-1 PBC).
GC got one goal in each half to take down the Hurricanes. With just under 15 minutes left, freshman Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.) netted the second goal of her young career to give Georgia College a 1-0 halftime lead.
With 39:44 remaining in the second half, Dalton got involved in the offense again with a cross from the left side, finding a sliding Erica Padula (Panama City, Fla.) from three yards out for the senior's first goal of the season. Dalton now shares the team lead with two assists. For Padula, a transfer from Auburn University-Montgomery, it was her first goal in a Bobcat uniform.
Rookie Taylor Cornelius (Dacula, Ga.) picked up her second career victory and first career shutout. She made three saves, while her counterpart Amber Bahri stopped five.
The Bobcats out-shot the Hurricanes 24-4, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.
