AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Georgia College women’s soccer team was slotted seventh in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference office announced Monday.

Head coach Hope Clark’s squad picked up two fifth place votes and five sixth-place choices en route to 58 total points, holding off Flagler College by just one.

The defending PBC Regular-Season and Tournament Champions Armstrong took all 11 possible first place votes to earn top honors, followed by Columbus State University and the University of North Georgia to round out the top three.

GC is coming off a sub-par 5-14 effort in 2011, going 2-6 in PBC play. The Bobcats return both goalkeepers, and three of their top four scorers from a year ago. The defensive-minded Bobcats held opponents scoreless in each of the team’s five wins a year ago.

The squad will be led by four seniors in Jamie Colcord (Marietta, Ga.), Olivia Holden (Fishers, Ind.), Haley O’Hayer (Savannah, Ga.) and Dixie Robinson (Conyers, Ga.).

The Bobcats begin the 2012 campaign on the road at Lenoir-Rhyne University Friday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. The first home contest is the Bobcat Shootout, a week later against Nova Southeastern University Friday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
