GC Soccer to Host Fourth Annual Bobcat Shootout this Weekend
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Bobcat Field will showcase four of the best women’s soccer teams in Division II in the Fourth Annual Bobcat Shootout tournament Friday and Sunday.
Georgia College will welcome teams from Tusculum College, Saint Leo University and Nova Southeastern University Friday and Sunday to battle for crucial non-conference victories.
All four squads own positions in their respective region rankings, with Saint Leo at tops and Nova Southeastern fifth in the South, while Tusculum is ninth and GC 10th in the Southeast. The Lions of Saint Leo also own a national ranking of No. 8.
The first game will begin Friday evening, with the Tusculum Pioneers taking on the Saint Leo Lions at 5 p.m. Tusculum will be coming into the tournament with a 2-1 record, splitting action at the Concord Kickoff Classic tournament last weekend; then taking out Concord in TC’s home opener 3-0. The Lions have a 1-1 record to date.
Next up for the Shootout, the Bobcats will take on the Nova Southeastern Sharks Friday at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first game of the season for the Sharks and the third for the home team. The Bobcats have a 1-1 record as of now, beating Lees-McRae College Sunday.
The final day of the Shootout will feature Nova Southeastern taking on Tusculum Sunday at 10 a.m.; followed by the Bobcats and Saint Leo at 12:30 p.m.
The action is free and open to the public at Bobcat Field this weekend.
