MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Sophomore forward Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.) of the Georgia College soccer team (4-4, 1-2 PBC) was named the Bobcat Athlete of the Week for her efforts during the week ending Sept. 23.
Veilleux had four goals over two games this week, including a hat-trick to beat No. 5 North Georgia 3-2. Tied 2-2 with the Saints, Veilleux netted the game-winner to give North Georgia its first loss of the season. The sophomore netted three goals against a defense that had only given up three total in the previous seven games. Veilleux scores the first hat trick for GC since 2007.
Veilleux becomes the first Bobcat to win PBC Offensive Player of the Week since Brittaney Borror (Evans, Ga.) in 2010. All-time, GC soccer has taken 25 weekly conference honors.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. traveling to No. 18 Columbus State University.
