Bobcat Soccer’s Knott Named to All-Academic Squad

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Sophomore midfielder Lindsey Knott (Macon, Ga.) of the Georgia College soccer team was named to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Women’s Soccer All-Academic Team the conference office announced Wednesday.

Knott owns a 3.88 GPA in biology, playing in all 19 games with 17 starts this season. She notched a goal and an assist this year, her goal being the game-winner in the 2-0 victory over Georgia Southwestern State University.

The Bobcats also added seven student-athletes to the All-Academic Honorable Mention, as Anna Barrow (St. Simons, Ga.), Brittaney Borror (Evans, Ga.), Taylor Cornelius (Dacula, Ga.), Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.), Olivia Holden (Fishers, Ind.), Kessler Matheson (Martinez, Ga.), and Annie Stephens (Fayetteville, Ga.) were also honored for their academic efforts.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The PBC Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.

The season has come to a close for GC soccer, a 2012 campaign featuring wins over three nationally-ranked opponents among the school’s 10-8-1 record. The Bobcats picked up double-digit victories for the first time since 2009.
