GC Soccer’s Veilleux, Dalton Earn All-Region Status

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the NCAA Division II All-Region Teams Wednesday, with Georgia College juniors Ashley Veilleux (Monroe, Ga.) and Abby Dalton (Macon, Ga.) taking spots on the Southeast Region third team.

"I am very proud of both Abby and Ashley for earning such a well-deserved honor," said head coach Hope Clark. "They have both been very impactful players for our program during their three years and an honor like this cannot be achieved without the support and hard work of their teammates.  I am grateful for the opportunity to coach these two amazing women and look forward to seeing them finish their college playing careers next fall with continued success."

Veilleux led the Bobcats in both points (19) and goals (9) on the season, earning All-Peach Belt First Team status. The junior forward made the second team last season, and is the only forward in school history to earn two-time NSCAA All-Region player honors, and just the second two-time selection overall for the Bobcats. Defender Morgan Cobb (2006-09) was named to the 2008 and 2009 squads on the third team.

Dalton makes her first appearance on an all-region list, after a stellar season that saw her lead the team in assists at eight, finishing with 16 points. She was an All-PBC Second Team selection, and snapped the school's career assist mark despite having a full year left to play.

All-time, Georgia College has had six NSCAA All-Southeast Region honorees, with half coming under coach Clark.

The 10th season of Bobcat women's soccer was a special one. The GC soccer program finished 10-7-3 (5-4-2 PBC) this season, capping an amazing run through the PBC Tournament with the school's first runner-up finish. Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) was placed on the Capital One Academic All-District First Team.
