VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 22 Georgia College Soccer squad (5-0) stayed perfect on the young season with a pair of first-half goals, shutting out the University of Tampa (1-2-2) 2-0 Wednesday in a neutral-site matchup at Valdosta State University.
2017 All-American Amanda Bartholomew (Peachtree City) got the scoring started just over nine minutes into the contest off a pass from Sofia Lekas (Lizella). The goal was Bartholomew's second this season and the first assist for Lekas this year.
Sophomore Sophia Bonser (Tyrone) doubled the advantage in the 28th minute with her first goal of the season, finding paydirt on a strike from well outside the box.
The two-goal lead would be enough to close it out, as senior goalkeeper Ashlee Graham (Decatur) once again provided a brick wall on the back line, extending her shutout streak to five matches by making six saves. The two-time Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Goalkeeper of the Week made three saves per half.
The Bobcats put their undefeated streak and the best start in program history to the test once again Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m., traveling to Lander University to start conference play.
