MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University women's tennis team finished up action at the GCSU Fall Women's Championships today (Oct. 11) at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
Six teams converged on Georgia College over the weekend, as joining the Bobcats are Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Florida Tech, the University of Tampa, and Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foes Augusta State University and Lander University.
Senior Marjorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) gave eventual Flight-A Singles Champion Natalia Ramos of Florida Tech her toughest challenge. Ceppo fell in a three-set semifinal battle 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Sophomore Bertille Lion (Saint Cyr, France) also lost in the semifinals to FIT's Andrea Madrigal. Lion bowed out in the Flight-B Singles to a 6-1, 6-1 tally.
Panther netters also ended the run of the Georgia College doubles squad. Topping Ceppo and Lion in the semifinals of the Flight-A bracket were Ramos and Abby Greif, 8-4.
The tournament closes out the fall season for women's tennis at Georgia College. The Bobcats pick back up in the spring.
