#19 Georgia College Grounds #24 Erskine 8-1

DUE WEST, S.C. - The No. 19 women's tennis team at Georgia College & State University (6-5, 4-4 PBC) grounded the No. 24 Erskine College Flying Fleet 8-1 earlier today (March 20). The Bobcats have now won three matches in a row, as they took all three doubles matches and five singles matches.

At first doubles, Marjorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Gabby Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) edged Britton Bignon and Kacie Knox 9-8. Diane Danna (Paris, France) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) beat Tessa Rheault and Mary Claire Rollins 8-6 at the number two doubles slot.

The freshman duo of Adriana Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Angy Cuellar (Bogota, Colombia) defeated Jourdan Smith and Nicole Miller 8-4.

At first singles, Ceppo was victorious over Rheault 6-0, 6-2. Ceppo improved to 6-5 on the 2009 season.

Danna shutout Bignon in straight 6-0 sets. Danna also moves to 6-5 on the year at the number two singles netter for the Bobcats. Lion also won today in singles action, beating Rollins at third singles by the score of 6-2, 6-0.

Gabby Acuna played an extra frame today and rebounding for a win over Knox 2-6, 6-0, 10-6. The senior Acuna moves to 7-4 on the 2009 campaign.

At the number five singles postion, Cuellar smoked Smith 6-2, 6-3. The freshman is now a match over .500 with a 6-5 record. Adriana Acuna lost to Erskine's Miller 6-1, 6-4.

Next up for the Bobcats is No. 9 Francis Marion University. Georgia College will face the Peach Belt Conference rival tomorrow (March 21) at 11 a.m.
