#22 Women’s Tennis Washed Away 9-0 by #15 Hawai’i Pacific

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The nine-day layoff proved to be too much for the women's tennis team at No. 22 Georgia College & State University (7-7, 4-5 PBC) as they lost 9-0 to No. 15 Hawaii Pacific University today (April 3).

At first doubles, Gabby Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Marjorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) fell 8-3 to the team of Ingrid Cseh and Zora Vlckova of the Sea Warriors.

The French duo of Bertille Lion and Diane Danna were shut out 8-0 to the twosome of Anastasia Ageychik and Lauren Shin at second doubles. At third doubles the freshman pair of Adriana Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Angy Cuellar (Bogota, Colombia) lost 8-1 to Alexsandra Stankovic and Nina Mihova.

No. 22 Ceppo was defeated by No. 12 Vlckova 6-2, 6-1 at the first singles slot. At second singles, No. 40 Mihova of Hawaii Pacific took down Danna of Georiga College 6-2, 6-3. The Bobcats' Lion fell just short of the Sea Warriors' Ageychik by the score of 6-5, 6-3 at third singles.

Gabby Acuna lost 6-4, 6-1 Cseh at the fourth singles postion. The fifth and sixth singles match saw similar results as Cuellar and Adriana Acuna lost 6-1, 6-1 to Stankovic and Shin, respectively.

Georgia College is back in action tomorrow, April 4 against SCAD at 1 p.m at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
