#22 Womens Tennis Stung By Bees, 5-4

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 22 women's tennis team at Georgia College & State University (7-8) came up a little short today (April 4) to SCAD (9-2) losing 5-4.
The most exciting match of the day came in the fifth singles bout which pitted Angy Cuellar (Bogota, Colombia) against Stephanie Gula. Cuellar fought hard the entire match and was able to even things out in the second frame which sent the match to a third set. Gula ended up on top, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
Doubles action saw two intense matches decided by three points or less. The second doubles team of Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) and Diane Danna (Paris, France) upended the team of Courtney Collins and Romina Mrochen 8-3.
At first doubles, Marjorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Gabby Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) fell 8-6 to the twosome of Hillary Collins and Irina Pljusznyin. Also, Adriana Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Cuellar were just edged 8-5 by the duo of Stephanie Gula and Charlotte Debrey.
The Bobcats won the first three singles matches as No. 47 Ceppo defeated Pljusznyin 6-4, 6-3 at first singles. At the second singles slot, Danna beat Hillary Collins 7-6, 6-3. Lastly, Lion came out on top, serving double breadsticks 6-1, 6-1 to Mrochen of SCAD.
Gabby Acuna's match also went to a third frame, but she was unable to capitalize as she fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to Courtney Collins. At sixth singles, Adriana Acuna lost 6-3, 6-4 to Debrey.
Georgia College will be back in action Monday, April 6 as they travel to face Brenau University at 3 p.m.
