MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The final rankings for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) have been tabulated, and the Georgia College & State University women's team ranks No. 19 in the nation with their region rank finishing at No. 5.
Senior All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selection Celine Martin (2004-08) was No. 42 in the nation, earning a No. 12 spot in the Mid-Atlantic Region. She finishes her career with four All-PBC nods and a 153-69 career mark, going 12-7 this season.
She and junior Marjorie Ceppo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) went 13-4 this year, including a pair of wins over nationally-ranked competition. The season earned them No. 23 in doubles action, adding No. 6 in regional rankings.
The women's team ended the 2008 season at 15-9, the second-straight season for them with 15 or more wins. Head coach Steve Barsby's squad also made their 14th straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
