MORROW, Ga. – The No. 27 Georgia College & State University women's tennis team (12-12) ended its 2010 campaign Friday with a 5-0 loss at No. 10 Clayton State University (17-7) in the Morrow Southeast Regional Semifinals.
The first doubles duo of Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) and Diane Danna (Paris, France) lost 8-2 to Viktorya Semyrodenko and Ivana Krommelova. In the second slot, the freshman pair of Kayla Barksdale (Martinez, Ga.) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) fell by the same score to Katie White and Marie Cercelletti.
The Lakers needed just two victories to clinch the team win, getting them at the fourth and fifth spots. Lingner was shut out by Cercelletti in the fourth spot, while Mosa dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match to Csizi.
The 2010 campaign featured a mind-boggling 16th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament for Georgia College women's tennis. Danna earned All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) honors at singles and as a pairing with Lion. Danna also earned a spot on the PBC All-Academic Team.
