#30 GC Women Stung by SCAD, 6-3

MACON, Ga. The No. 30 Georgia College women's tennis team (4-1, 2-0 PBC) suffered their first loss of this young season to SCAD (1-1) Friday afternoon, 6-3. 

The Bobcats lost the doubles portion of the team battle, 2-1. Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) and Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) dropped the first doubles match against Hillary Collins and Magdalena Bresson, 8-5.

May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Kim Lochner (Neu-Isenburg) dropped their second doubles match of the season to Theresa Schmaus and Courtney Collins, in the second slot 8-3. The 'Cats took the third slot when Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) toppled Lucy Zhang and Charlotte Debrey, 8-3.

GC only managed to take two of the singles matches from the Bees. In a first-singles bout, Lion lost to Hillary Collins, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2. Bresson got the better of Johnson, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. In third singles, defending Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week Barksdale got the first singles win for GC, defeating Schmaus in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

In fourth singles, Lochner was defeated by Courtney Collins, 6-4, 6-0 and in the fifth slot, Setyon remained undefeated gathering her fourth win of the season in convincing fashion over Zhang, 6-0, 6-2. Debrey defeated Edwards to end the day in the sixth slot 6-1, 6-1.

The Bobcats will play again Sunday, Feb 20 at national No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic for a 2 p.m.
