MILLEDGEVILLE, G.A. – Georgia College women’s tennis (4-0, 2-0 PBC) sophomore Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) has been named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Player of the Week as announced by the conference Wednesday, Feb. 16.
Barksdale had a phenomenal weekend, going 3-0 out of the No. 3 singles slot and 3-0 out of the No. 1 doubles spot. She downed USC Aiken’s Andrea Cediel, 6-3, 6-0. Barksdale toppled UNC Pembroke’s Hannah Herlocker, 6-0, 6-1 and Wingate’s Ali Evers, 7-5, 6-1.
She partnered with Bertille Lion and edged out Aiken’s Stephanie Humphrey and Margot Simon, 9-8. Then they defeated Pembroke’s Jenna McGary and Herlocker, 8-5 and Wingate’s Kara Stasikelis and Kelli Ferguson, 8-4.
The Bobcats will play again Friday, Feb 18 at SCAD at 2 p.m.
