GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament run for No. 5-seed Georgia College women's tennis (13-10) came to a halt Saturday morning, as the No. 1-seed Armstrong Pirates (22-0) shut out the Bobcats 5-0.
National No. 2 Aleksndra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova topped GC's Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Lisa Setyon-Ortenzio (Paris) 8-1 in the first slot. No. 15 Kathleen Henry and Clara Perez completed the sweep with an 8-1 victory over Sara Roberts (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany).
In singles action, No. 20 Kalodzitsa beat Marevic in the third slot 6-0, 6-2 and Jessica Gardefjord finished the points with a shutout of Anna Hicks (Brunswick, Ga.) in the sixth slot.
The Georgia College women now wait for seeding in the upcoming NCAA Regional Tournament, to be announced Tuesday, April 24.
