AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) recently announced the 2013 Women's Tennis All-Academic Team with three members from Georgia College (16-12) earning honors. Senior May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) was awarded a spot on the team while fellow senior Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) and junior Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) earned honorable mentions.
Johnson earned her position on the team with a 3.74 GPA. The art major went 18-7 in singles play during her senior year, including an 18-6 record at the No. 2 position. She finished 18-10 in doubles action, playing mostly with Marevic in the No. 2 doubles slot.
Marevic earned the honorable mention by holding a 3.67 GPA in management. She played all of her matches at the No. 1 slot during the 2013 season, compiling an 8-14 record. She racked up 18 wins in doubles play, including a 17-5 record playing with Johnson.
Lingner earned her honorable mention by holding a 3.60 GPA as a nursing major. She was 9-9 in singles action while battling a number of injuries. She finished with a record of 10-14 in doubles play.
In addition to maintaining excellent academic standing, Johnson, Marevic, and Lingner helped the Bobcats make it to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the 19th consecutive year.
