SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Georgia College women’s tennis team and three individuals were honored recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in the organization’s year-end academic awards.
The Bobcat women’s team was chosen an ITA All-Academic Team, while junior May Johnson (Sydney, Australia), sophomore Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) and freshman Sara Roberts (Kennesaw, Ga.) were also selected ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Johnson was a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Gold Scholar this past season while going 13-5 in singles action. Marevic was 12-8 in her first season with the Bobcats, adding Gold status as well. The rookie Roberts was 3-6, adding PBC Silver Scholar honors.
The Bobcats have wrapped up a 2012 season that saw GC go 13-11, earn the No. 5-seed in the PBC Tournament, and eventually fall in the Southeast Region semifinal. The Bobcats earned All-PBC accolades in both singles and doubles last season. The GC women have now made 18 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.
