MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College women’s tennis will welcome four teams to campus for the 2012 Georgia College Fall Championships Oct. 5-6. The two-day tournament will feature the University of Tampa, Florida Tech, Lander University, UNC Pembroke and the Bobcats.
The tournament will consist of three singles flights and two doubles flights. Georgia College will have three players active this weekend. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) will compete in both singles and doubles play. Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) will compete in singles play and join Barksdale in doubles. Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) will take part in singles action.
The Bobcats were champions in both doubles flights during the 2011 Fall Champion as May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) won Flight “A” and Leah Pridgeon (Lawrencville, Ga.) and former Bobcat Lisa Setyon-Ortenzio came away with the Flight “B” Championship. The Bobcats also came away with a pair of singles championships as Pridgeon won Flight “C” and Setyon-Ortenzio took the Flight “B” championship.
Play for the 2012 Georgia College Fall Championships will begin 10 a.m. Friday morning at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility and continue through Saturday evening.
