MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior Paula Garriga (Barcelona, Spain) of the Georgia College Women's Tennis team (6-2, 2-1 PBC) has been named Peach Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her efforts during the week ending March 11.
Garriga provided two crucial team points in the 5-4 win over Queens University Friday, including the team-victory clinching point in fifth singles. She started the day teaming with Emma Niemi (Cumming) for the first time this season, topping the Royals' third doubles team in a tight 8-6 pro-set. Garriga then clinched a crucial region win in fifth singles by controlling Hannah Lehfeldt in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
Garriga is the first GC Women's Tennis player to take the honor since Macy Polk won it March 12, 2014.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at home against Concord University.
