AUGUSTA, Ga. – For the second week in a row, junior Paula Garriga (Barcelona, Spain) has been named the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Garriga is the first GC Women's Tennis player to earn the honor twice in the same season.
Garriga went 5-1 in the six-match week, including 3-0 in singles play. She beat the fifth line singles players from Emmanuel College, Concord University and No. 13 Saint Leo University this week. Garriga beat Katharina Kiderlen of Emmanuel 6-4. 6-2, then shut out Concord's Caitlyn Knapp. With the team taking on the No. 13 Lions, Garriga beat Fabiola Cardenas in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. In doubles play, the lone blemish for the week came against Emmanuel's third-doubles pairing 8-3.
