PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 39 Georgia College Women's Tennis (7-5) could only muster a doubles victory in a 5-1 loss at No. 2 University of West Florida (15-0) Wednesday to close the West Florida Tournament.
In first doubles, Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville, Georgia) and Valeria Lopez (Galicia, Spain) lost to No. 4 duo Jordana Lujan and Paula Coyos 8-3. Third doubles was a loss for Emma Niemi (Cumming, Georgia) and Paula Garriga (Barcelona, Spain) to Ines Nicault and Diana Vlad 9-7.
The Argos swept the three singles matches to get their five team points. In second doubles, Nicault defeated Lopez 6-3, 6-2. Mixon topped No. 75 Garriga 6-2, 6-2 in the fifth line, and No. 5 Coyos beat No. 20 Kelly 6-2, 6-1 to close the day.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 27 at 2 p.m., playing host to the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
