DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The No. 31 Georgia College Women's Tennis team (11-5, 5-1 PBC) got an impressive singles rally to take down No. 29 University of North Georgia (12-4, 6-1 PBC) 5-4 Wednesday on the road.
The Bobcats dropped two of three doubles matches. Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) and Valeria Lopez (Galicia, Spain) teamed for an 8-4 loss in the first slot to the nation's No. 18 duo in Felicia Baratta and Holly Bennett.
Richter evened the match at 2-2 with the first singles finish in the third slot, beating No. 74 Bennett 6-1, 6-2. Richter is a perfect 13-0 on the season in singles play. Next came Jones in fourth singles, getting her seventh-straight win via a pair of 6-3 sets from Jorge. UNG evened the bout again at 3-3 by taking second singles. Baratta beat Lopez there 6-4, 6-2.
No. 43 Kelly topped Bofinger in first singles, 7-6, 6-1. Garriga then clinched the team victory in the fifth slot, beating Zuddy 6-1, 6-2. Team win already in hand, Niemi lost to Lexa Loden 7-6, 7-5.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m., traveling to No. 3 Columbus State University.
