Georgia College Women’s Tennis Battles Tough in ITA Southeast Regional

SUMTER, S.C. – ­­ The Georgia College women's tennis team battled tough throughout the ITA Southeast Regionals Saturday, however, their run ended with a heartbreaking doubles loss in the quarterfinals.

Valeria Lopez (Galicia, Spain) and doubles partner Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) stormed through the doubles bracket to find themselves in the quarterfinals. After three dominant victories, the Bobcat pair found themselves matched up against fourth ranked Adrienne Bofinger and Lexa Loden from the University of North Georgia.

A tight matchup ensued, as both teams battled back and forth. Although Lopez and Richter hung tough, the Nighthawk pair won the tiebreak and the match, 7-6.    

The Bobcat women return to the court Saturday, Oct. 13 when they host the two-day Fall Championship event at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
