MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Senior Heather Raines (Lawrenceville, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State University women's cross country team was named GCSU Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 11, the sports information office announced today. This is the first such honor for both Raines and the Bobcat women this season.
Raines became the first Bobcat women's runner to win a meet since 2004 by breaking the tape at the Southern Challenge in Marietta, Ga. She finished the 5K course in 20:56, helping the ‘GCSU A' team to the team title as well. Raines has now led the Bobcats in three of their four races this season.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Oct. 16 at the SMC Invitational in Colchester, Vt.
