BRONX, N.Y. - It didn't take long for the newest members of the women's cross country team to make an impact, as Taylor Roeck (Cumming, Ga.), Meghan Wetterhall (Atlanta) and Whitney Sweet (Roswell, Ga.) were the first three Bobcats to finish the Fordham Fiasco on a rainy Saturday morning.
With each of them competing at their first collegiate race, Roeck finished 16th overall with a time of 21:02 at the 5K race, while Wetterhall finished 22nd with in 21:14 and Sweet at 21:26 and 28th place.
A two-time All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and 2011 All-Southeast Regional runner, junior Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.) finished 49th overall with a time of 22:00. The lone senior competing in the Fordham race, Victoria Dobson (New Hamburg, Ontario) came in 74th with a time of 22:53.
The Bobcats finished eighth out of 12 teams, with a score of 171 and an average time of 21:43.
They'll be back in action Sept. 14 when they compete in the Mercer RunFit Invitational in Macon, Ga.
