MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College cross country will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regionals Saturday, Nov. 3 when they make the trip to Charlotte, N.C. The women’s team will run a 6K race, while the men will run a 10K.

The women’s team last ran at the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship Oct. 20, where a triad of runners led them to a fifth place finish. Freshman Taylor Roeck (Cumming, Ga.), freshman Lena White (Smyrna, Ga.) and junior Allison Lones (Kathleen, Ga.) all had finishes that stand in the top-10 in GC history for 6K races.

The team has finished eighth or better in all but one race this year, with their best finish coming at the Mercer RunFit Invitational Sept. 15 when they came in 2nd of 19 teams.

The men’s team finished sixth at the PBC Championships, being led by Philip Laskey (Marietta, Ga.), who has finished first on the team in every race during the 2012 season.

The young harriers have relied on freshmen, with five of seven runners being in their first year. James Ryden (Atlanta) is one of those freshmen and had his best race of the year at the PBC Championship, finishing 23rd of 84 runners and second on the team.

The men’s team has finished seventh or better in all but one race during the 2012 season. Their top finish as a team came at the Jaguar Invitational Oct. 5, when they finished fourth of 11 teams.

The men’s team finished 14th of 24 teams at 2011 NCAA Regional, while the women finished 13th of 26 teams.

The men will run their 10K race at 10 a.m., with the women following them at 11 a.m. with the 6K race. Both races will be run at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.
