COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Cross Country team is getting geared up for the 2017 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships, to be hosted by Columbus State University at Fort Benning in Columbus.

The Bobcat women haven't finished lower than third at any of their four regular-season races, including runner-up finishes at the Border Clash XC Meet in Valdosta and the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational in South Carolina.

Senior Katherine Yost (Norcross) has led the squad in each of the four team races, including re-setting the 5K school record Sept. 1 at the VSU Border Clash. The PBC Championship will also be a 5K race. Yost has five career race wins, including victories in all four runs this season. She looks to pick up her second career All-PBC honor.

The rest of the squad has shown good pack running, as the trio of sophomores Grace Lynch (Lawrenceville) and Tessa Allen (Atlanta) as well as freshman Sydney Brown (Canton) have taken the third-through fourth spots for the team in each of the last three races. In the team's most recent 5K effort, the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational, Lynch finished second on the team with a 20:49, followed by Allen in 21:03 and Brown in 21:05.

The Bobcats took sixth at last year's conference championship, the school's best finish since 2012. The all-time school best was in 2009, taking the runner-up spot in Lumberton, North Carolina.

The women's race begins Saturday at 9 a.m. follow live video through the PBC YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/PeachBeltConference/live .
