BEACH ISLAND, S.C. – Welcome back Sydney Brown (Canton, Georgia). After taking the first race of the season off, the super sophomore led the Georgia College Women's Cross Country team to runner-up honors at the 2018 Jaguar Invitational, hosted by Augusta University.

Brown finished second in the field as an individual, crossing the line on the 5K at 19:29. She led a quartet of Bobcats in the top-20.

Second on the team and eighth overall was junior Maddy Howe (Dacula, Georgia) finishing in 20:04. Classmate Rachel Boulineau (Canton, Georgia) took 11th in 20:11, missing the top-10 by four seconds.

Junior Madison Bowers (Cumming, Georgia) was 20th, finishing in 20:40, and junior Kaitlyn Griffith (Cumming, Georgia) had 26th locked in at 21:07.

"The ladies ran great this morning," said head coach Steven Cary. "They worked so well together. Sydney did a great job of moving up throughout the race as did Maddy. Rachel ran a really smart race as well. I'm really proud of this group. We're not in peak form right now—they were probably a little tired to be honest—but they're bringing their very best to every practice and race at this point. Big things to come for this group."

The Bobcats had just 58 points, coming in 30 behind the team leader in the University of North Georgia. Among the teams the Bobcats beat were four Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools in host Augusta, Clayton State University, Georgia Southwestern State University and Francis Marion University.

The Bobcats will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
