NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its latest set of rankings Tuesday, with Georgia College Women’s Cross Country taking the seventh spot in the Southeast Region.
The Bobcat Women were unmoved from their seventh-place ranking last week, despite taking home the team championship in a field of 43 teams at the Louisville Classic over the weekend. The first-place title marked the first team victory for the Bobcats since 2014 and the 10th all-time.
Georgia College finishes just behind two other Peach Belt Conference (PBC) competitors in the Southeast Ranking, the University of North Georgia (third) and Columbus State University (fifth), with Queens University leading the pack with the number one overall ranking.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, Oct. 20 with their only home meet, the Bobcat Invitational.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
