Bobcats Extend Winning Streak to Seven, Defeats Toccoa Falls 5-1

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team (22-9) faced off against Toccoa Falls College (19-11) Wednesday evening and the Bobcats came away with a 5-1 victory. The win extended the Bobcat's winning streak to seven games.

Taylor Hinshaw (Winder, Ga.) led the offensive attack for the Bobcats, doubling to lead off the second inning, before eventually scoring on a groundout.

After a Toccoa Falls run tied the game in the top of the fifth inning, Hinshaw singled home Clay Ardeeser (Alpharetta, Ga.) in the bottom of the sixth.

Hinshaw gave the Bobcats the lead in the bottom of the eight when he put a 1-2 pitch over the left center fence. Later in the inning  Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.) gave the Bobcats two insurance runs, doubling to right center and bringing in John Welborn (Locust Grove, Ga.) and Jeremy Donaldson (Winder, Ga.).

The Bobcats pitching staff pieced together nine innings of one-run baseball, starting with Justin Blue (Mulberry, Fla.) and ending with Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.) finishing off the game. Jordan Brooks (Macon, Ga.) earned his second win of the year, pitching the sixth and seventh inning allowing two baserunners and striking out one. Brooks and Daniel Szathmary (Suwanee, Ga.) each went two innings, while every other pitcher remained in the game for just three outs.

Hinshaw finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored and another two knocked in. Ryan Sabalaskey (Carol Stream, Ill.) went 2-for-4 at the plate in his return to action after missing the last five games.

The Bobcats return to John Kurtz Field Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m. to take on No. 3 Lander University.
