MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – In a game that was tight early in the second half, the Georgia College Men's Basketball team (17-11, 12-10 PBC) pulled away from Francis Marion University (20-7, 16-6 PBC) 86-63 Saturday for Senior Day at the Centennial Center.
With the victory, the Bobcats clinched the No. 5-seed in the upcoming Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament, and will play quarterfinal action at No. 4-seed UNC Pembroke.
Sophomore Jordan Thomas (Conyers) led all scorers with 21 points, hitting 7-for-13 from the floor. Both junior Kohl Roberts (Atlanta) and senior Isaac Thomas (Trion) chipped in double-doubles, Roberts compiling 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Isaac Thomas added a 14-point, 13-rebound double-dip with six assists.
The Bobcats shot 51 percent (30-59) from the field, compared to just 34 percent (24-70) for FMU. The game was tied 34-34 at the break, and it wasn't until the 6:38 mark that GC had a double-digit advantage after an Isaac Thomas dunk.
Prior to the game, the Bobcats honored their two seniors in Mitchell-LaFlam and Isaac Thomas.
GC Men's Hoops is back in action Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m., traveling to No. 4-seed UNCP for a PBC Quarterfinal.
