ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College softball team (11-32, 6-10 PBC) traveled to take on Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Flagler College (31-12, 8-6 PBC), but were only able to manage nine hits on the day in a pair of shutout losses, 5-0 and 8-0.
In game one, GC fell behind early after a four-run first inning from Flagler. Freshman Chelsie Huffman (Powder Springs, Ga.) threw great in relief, going four shutout innings. She also struck out two while allowing only five hits.
Senior second baseman Brandie Monroe (Savannah, Ga.) was the only Bobcats to record multiple hits in game one, going 2-for-3.
In game two, the Saints picked up right where they left off as they hammered the Bobcats for eight runs in the first three innings.
Junior Lauren Potts (Gray, Ga.) led Georgia College with two hits in as many at-bats, including a double in the bottom of the fifth.
The losses put GC at 6-10 in the PBC, slotted ninth in the conference standings with two more league doubleheaders to go. The top eight squads make the PBC Tournament in Florence, S.C.
The Bobcats will head home for Senior Day against No. 23 Armstrong Atlantic Tuesday, April 5 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Peeler Complex.
