MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Softball team (34-18) recently wrapped up its 2019 season, but the honors keep coming in, as junior shortstop Amber Coy (Warner Robins) was selected for the Google Cloud/College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced recently.
Coy makes her second career appearance on the District 3 team, which includes student-athletes from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC) and Conference Carolinas (CC). She boasts a 4.00 GPA in Nursing.
Coy will advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with an announcement due Wednesday, June 5.
All-time, 16 Georgia College players have taken Academic All-District nods, the most recent being Hannah Coursey, Holland Coursey and Coy in 2018.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the link above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
Season has come to a close for Bobcat Softball, a year in which they went 34-18, reaching as high as No. 20 in the nation. The Bobcats enjoyed a 14-game win streak, putting Sarah Couch on the All-PBC Team and Coy bringing in the Elite-15 Award. Senior Caroline Snider and sophomore Haley Howell were All-Region honorees.
