AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its PBC Women's Tennis All-Academic Team this week, with No. 25 Georgia College Women's Tennis (13-6) putting three student-athletes on the 26-member team.
Seniors Kristen Jones (Marietta), Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) and Emma Niemi (Cumming) all qualified this season. Jones owns a 3.63 GPA, Kelly comes in at 3.76 and Niemi owns a 3.48. All three Bobcats are Exercise Science majors.
Kelly makes her third appearance on the list, Jones her second and Niemi takes in the honor for the first time.
Players must fulfill three qualifications to gain a spot on the All-Academic Team. An athlete must play in at least half of the team games and be either a starter or significant contributor to their team's success level. They must also have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and have completed at least a year of schooling at their institution with sophomore athletic eligibility.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 20 at 9 a.m. opening the PBC Tournament against Augusta University in Florence, South Carolina.
