Women’s Cross Country Improves to Sixth in Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. – On the heels of impressive first and second place finishes at their two most recent meets, the Georgia College Women’s Cross Country team has also made strides in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, which pegs the Bobcats at sixth in the Southeast region, up one spot from last week’s seventh-place ranking.

The Bobcat Women have not competed since the Louisville Classic Sept. 29 when they finished first in a field of 43 teams, the Bobcats’ first team victory since 2014.

In the latest poll, Georgia College finishes ahead of Peach Belt Conference (PBC) rivals Columbus State University (ninth) and Augusta University (10th). The Bobcats finish just behind Flagler College (third) and the University of North Georgia (fifth).

The Bobcats have momentum on their side as they prepare to compete at home on Saturday, their final meet before the PBC Championship on Nov. 3.

Georgia College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as they host the Bobcat Invitational at the Council Farm Course.
