LAKELAND, Fla. | Georgia College & State University open up its spring men's golf season Monday (Feb. 5) at the Matlock Collegiate Classic hosted by Florida Southern College.

The Bobcats shot rounds of 323 in the morning and 311 in the afternoon to stand in 15th place at 634. No. 11 Florida Southern leads the tournament with a two-round tally of 634.

Max Sheppard had the best finish of the day for Georgia College, shooting a 79 in the morning and followed that up with a one-over par 73 in the afternoon on the par 72, 7,151-yard layout at the Lone Palm Golf Club and is tied for 46th place at 152. Matthew Rogers signed for scorecards of back-to-back rounds of 79 and is tied for 66th, while Kam McDaniel is tied for 70th at 159 after posting scores of 80 and 79. Austin Quillian in 76th place at 165 after firing rounds of 85 and 80, while Blane Davis is in 78th at 171 with scores of 90 and 81.

The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday (Feb. 6) morning.
