Billy Goddard and
Jack Hutcheson picked up top-12 finishes as the Georgia College & State University men's golf team finished in ninth place at the Lander Bearcat Spring Invitational hosted by Lander University Tuesday (Feb. 4) afternoon.
The Bobcats completed their second round with a score of 302 in the morning before posting a 300 in the final round to finish the 54-hole tournament on the par 72, 7,021-yard layout at The Preserve at Verdae at 909.
Wingate University won the event with a score of 864, four strokes better than Catawba College.
Goddard tied for 10th place with 218 after firing a 73 and followed that up with a 74 in the final round. It was the first top-10 finish by a Bobcat since the 2022-23 season. Hutcheson tied for 12th place at 219 after a 74 and an one-under par 71 in the afternoon.
Andy Scott, who was playing as an individual for the Bobcats, came in 36th place at 227 after a 74 in the morning and carded an 80 in the final round.
Matthew Rogers tied for 60th place at 235, while
Blane Davis tied for 65th at 241 and
Ty Darsey rounded out the contingent in 69th place at 245. Rogers had a 74 and a 79, while Davis carded an 81 before tallying a 76 in the final round. Darsey completed the tournament with rounds of 84 and 81.
The Bobcats will take part in the Matlock Collegiate Classic hosted by Florida Southern College Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 10-11) in Lakeland, Florida.
