Bobcats close out regular season at Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. | Georgia College & State University completed its regular season golf schedle Tuesday (March 18) afternoon at the Bobcat Invitational held at the Golf Club at Cuscowilla.

The Bobcats fielded two teams in their home tournament. The A team had one of the lowest final rounds in the field as GCSU shot a four-over par 284 to finish the 54-hole tournament in 14th place at 889, while the B team carded a 298 on the par 70, 6,730-yard layout and finished in 15th at 910.

Matthew Rogers was the top finisher for the Bobcats as he finished tied for 41st place at 220 after a one-over par 71, while Billy Goddard fired off an even-par 70 to finish in a tie for 45th at 221. Andy Scott was tied for 46th place at 222 after a 72 in the final round, while Kam McDaniel signed for a 73 and tied for 56th at 225.

Chase Blanton collected a 75 and finished in a tie fir 57th at 226, while Jack Hutcheson tied for 60th place at 226 after best round for the tournament for the Bobcats as he shot one-under par 69. Blane Davis was next in a tie for 68th place at 231 after a 75, while Hunter Phillips registered a 77 in the final round as was tied for 72 place at 235. Jacob Speece tied for 73rd at 238, while Browning Benton tied for 74th place at 241. Speece had a 77 on his scorecard, while Benton had a 79.

The Bobcats will now spend the next few weeks to prepare for the Peach Belt Conference Championship, which will begin April 18 in Augusta, Georgia.
