DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University men's cross country team rewrote their record book after finishing in fifth place at the Georgia Tech Cross Country Invitational Friday (Oct. 2) morning.
All nine Bobcat runners set personal best times on the 8K course at the Fox Hall Sporting Club and four of the times were also among the top 20 times in program history.
The Bobcats finished with 149 points and were the top NCAA Division II institution in the field. Host Georgia Tech won the meet with 20 points, 17 more than the University of North Georgia.
Nolan Lane was the top GCSU runner in the field, finishing 33rd with a time of 25.17.5, which is tied for the third-best 8K effort in program history.
Karl Ritzler came in 37th with a time of 25.21.4, which is tied for sixth-best in GCSU history.
Zach Hilyer placed 39th in the meet with a time of 25.29.9, which is 10th-best ever for the Bobcats.
Shipley Smith came in 44th with a time of 25.47.6 and is 13th-best all time.
Nour Nazin came in 48th with a time of 26.07.8 and was followed by
Daniel Laird (56th, 26.23.7),
Antonio Correa (69thm 26.41.5),
Daniel Bell (76th, 26.47.7) and
Joseph Jarvis (77th, 26.49.4).
The Bobcats return to action next Friday (Oct. 9) when they host the Bobcat Invitational presented by Chick-fil-A of Middle Georgia. The 8K race will start at 6 p.m. on the Bobcat Cross Country Course.
