EATONTON, Ga. | Georgia College & State University finished in 13th place at its Bobcat Invitational Tuesday (March 17) afternoon.
The Bobcat was shortened to 36 holes from 54 holes after the teams were only able to get in nine holes at the Golf Club at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee on the opening day of the event due to rain and severe weather.
GCSUÂ shot rounds of 297 and 292 on the par 70, 6,730-yard layout to finish the Invitational at 583. Georgia Southwestern State University won the tournament with a 36-hole score of 563, six strokes ahead of the University of South Carolina-Aiken and Grand Valley State University.
Andy Scott was the top Bobcat in the field as he carded rounds of 72 and 73 to finish in a tie for 19th place at 145.
Andrew Lutjens was tied for 37th at 148 after back-to-back rounds of 74, while
Matthew Rogers and
Chase Blanton tied for 44th place at 149. Rogers signed for rounds of 75 and 74, while Blanton fired scores of 76 and 73.
Jack Hutcheson had rounds of 79 and 72 and finished in a tie for 52nd place at 151.
GCSU also had three golfers competing as individuals.
Jacob Speece tied for 62nd place at 152 with rounds of 78 and 74.
Hank Holcomb came in 70th at 155, while
Hunter Phillips was in 71st at 156. Holcomb posted scores of 73 and 82, while Phillips shot 82 amd 74.
The Bobcats return to the course for the final time in the regular season March 30 when they travel to Pensacola, Florida, to compete in the Argonaut Invitational.
