GCSU opens campaign in third place at Julius Johnson Invitational

MACON, Ga. | Georgia College & State University opened its men's cross country slate Saturday (Sept. 5) morning at the MGA/Julius Johnson Invitational hosted by Mercer University.

The Bobcats, who are ranked ninth in the preseason U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Southeast Region, came in third place with 84 points. The meet host won meet with 20 points, while Tuskegee University was second with 50.

Joseph Jarvis and Antonio Correa earned top-20 efforts for the Bobcats. Jarvis finished 19th with a 6K time of 20.45.0 on the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course, while Correa was one place back with a time of 20.51.3. Jaycob Wagner came in 25th with a time of 21.28.9 while Daniel Bell was 27th with a personal-best time of 21.32.0 and Evan Armstrong was 28th with 21.45.0. Peyton Harley posted a PR time of 21.51.1 and came in 33rd, while Gavin Howland was 34th with a time of 21.54.4. Levi Dailey finished in 36th with a time of 21.58,1 and was followed by Owen Davies (38th, 22.03.7) and Asher Smith (39th, 22.10.4).

GCSU travels to Charlotte, North Carolina, Friday (Sept. 11) to compete in the Queens City Invitational. The meet starts at 6:45 p.m.
