COLUMBUS, Ga. - Led by 22
points from Graham Martin
(Marietta, Ga.) and a beast of a game from Shaun Keaton
(Albany, Ga.) the No. 14 Georgia College & State
University men's basketball team (18-4, 12-4 PBC) edged Columbus
State University (8-14, 6-10 PBC) 80-72 tonight (Feb. 16).
Martin tallied 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-9
from behind the arc. Keaton impressed with 18 points, nine boards
and five assists. The nine caroms ties a career-high for the senior
guard.
Senior Ken Kemp (Dublin,
Ga.) added 12 points with five boards and four helps,
while sophomore forward Josh Hurst (Athens,
Ga.) yanked down a career-best 13 boards to go with six
points.
Chris Telesford led three Cougar scorers in double digits with
16. Javarus Stewart had 15 with nine rebounds and Brandon Bland
added 11 points.
The Bobcats got back to their winning ways by hitting the
long-range shot (dropping 13 treys to CSU's three), and knocking
down free-throws. GCSU was 17-for-20 from the stripe, good for 85
percent. These two numbers helped Georgia College win despite
turning the ball over more than the Cougars (15-9).
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.,
hosting Georgia Southwestern State University at 7:30 p.m. for
Senior Night. The Bobcats will honor Kemp, Keaton and Justin Brown
(New Orleans).
