MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Senior righty Mandy Chandler
(Covington, Ga.) of the Georgia College & State
University softball team was named the GCSU Athlete of the Week,
the sports information office announced today (March 24). This is
the first such honor for the Bobcat softball (21-15, 7-1 PBC) this
season.
Chandler went 3-1 with a 1.13 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 3-1
innings this week. She broke the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) record
for career wins in the doubleheader sweep off Lander University
Friday, getting both victories. After those two games, she now has
88 career wins. She tossed a pair of one-hit shutouts this week,
blanking Carson-Newman College with 11 strikeouts in a 2-0 game
Wednesday, and shutting down Lander with 12 Ks in another 2-0 win
Friday.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday March 26 as they travel
to UNC Pembroke for a PBC doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
