ALBANY, Ga. - Using a seven-run rally, the No.
12 Georgia College & State University baseball team (11-4)
slipped past Albany State University (10-7) today (March 4) 15-14.
Georgia College got three in the seventh, three more in the
eighth and one in the ninth to tie the game 13-13. It only took one
extra frame for the Bobcats to pull off the win.
Junior Brett George (Dacula,
Ga.) led off the 10th with a double, and after
a single by sophomore Richard Pirkle
(Norcross, Ga.), junior Matt Pitts (Brunswick,
Ga.) brought home George with a push-bunt. Pitts would
later score the team's 15th run on a single by senior
Danny
McCorkell (Wentzville, Mo.).
The Rams got one run in the bottom of the 10th before
junior Martin Dewald
(Mannheim, Germany) shut the door. Dewald went the final 2
1/3 innings for the win, improving to 4-1 on the season.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m.,
traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University (8-12, 1-2 PBC).
